Suddenly I remembered we had traded some Pokémon on black, three shiny legendaries, high leveled, and all in my PC. Like two months after his funeral (which shocked me how many friends we had in common even in HS), I decided to listen to an old song that was our graduation song for elementary. I couldn’t stand being at his funeral for a half hour, we had known each other for over a decade and played together almost everyday when we were younger. A drunk lady decided she wanted to tempt fate and ran him and the car he was fixing over while he was underneath it, he passed away on the spot.
But on his last few weeks there, he stopped to help someone fix their car on the side of a road. He went up to college in the mainland USA to work as a car mechanic. After elementary school, we both grew apart as everyone does and by high school I barely saw him. My best friend and I used to play Pokémon all the time, he always had those shiny legendaries you could get from action replays and a solid team so we often traded so I could finish the dex (never did finish the dex). Then I'll be more sad knowing that I can't see my old pokemon since I dont have a Gameboy anymore, neither would the cartridges even work. Maybe next time mom and dad go out of town I'll just ransack the place and then when the cartridges show up I'll pay someone to come over and clean up everything. I'm convinced that they're in that house somewhere. Like I said, I dont think they got stolen, because I really can't imagine who would have done it. To this day, if I'm at my parents' house and somehow it turns up somewhere, I'd be absolutely amazed. Forget Blue and Yellow, all I wanted was to find Gold version. I had logged hundreds of hours of game play on that cartridge. I remember I had what I thought was the world's most powerful Ariados on Gold version.I had stupidly released cyndaquil early on in the game and so Spinarak/Ariados became my main pokemon. Years went by and once in a while I would randomly search my parents' house for the cartridges, just in case there was somewhere that I hadn't looked yet, just in case they were in a drawer somewhere, or had fallen behind something and had been inaccessible all these years.
I can't say they were stolen, because I honestly don't know if they were and the list of suspects would be very small, and very surprising if any of them were the culprit. When I was about 11 (2001), my Gold version, Blue version, and yellow version all went missing.
